The Lemek pride of Lions reign over a territory spanning areas of three Conservancies of the Masai Mara; Lemek, Ol Choro and Enonkishu. The pride has experienced a turbulent period over recent years with incoming males and infanticide.
Fortunately, over the last couple of years, the pride has been much more stable. The two incumbent males, brothers ‘Dere’ and ‘Barikoi’ have defended the territory for over two years allowing cubs to prosper and reach adulthood.
I think this male is ‘Dere’, but as their facial scars change, I can never be 100% sure!
