 The Nikon D4 will be formally announced by Nikon tomorrow (6th January). UK price is still to be confirmed but in the US it is expected to retail around $6,000. So probably around £6,000 in the UK! The D4 will be a full frame (fx) camera with a 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor capable of shooting…  My first trip out with the camera in 2012 involved an unusual foray into Landscape (well seascape!) photography. Some recent photographs by my good pals Ian Sweet and Darryl Laidler inspired me to dust off the wide angle lens and filters and take a trip out to the coast for a sunset. ‘Charlies Garden’ is… no comments  I spent a day last week in the new woodland feeding station hide at Gosforth Park Reserve. The feeding station attracts a typical selection of woodland birds. Nuthatch, Treecreeper and Greater Spotted Woodpecker were the highlights amongst the more usual great and blue tits. The hide is in a reserve which is run and managed by the Natural History Society of Northumbria http://www.nhsn.ncl.ac.uk. It is a fantastic reserve and I have managed to photograph Bittern and Kingfisher there too. It is however under threat from a housing development. Great images Alan. These are great Alan! Last Sunday I spent my third day this year out on the Farne Islands. Amazingly I have had three days of absolutely superb weather in terms of light and flat calm seas. Hi Alan, these shots are amazing, beautiful light and also very real with the scars. Nature can be brutal, the fight between the wolves and buffalo on frozen planet this week. Nice write up Alan and some great shots to boot. For me the Juvenile Herring Gulls shot is the pick of the bunch, fantastic. Once again I’ve been slightly incapacitated due to a back injury sustained in my ‘day job’. Thankfully it doesn’t seem as bad as the last time.
