African Wildlife Photography Safaris
Join me for a bespoke wildlife photography safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara Conservancies, the private reserves of South Africa’s Greater Kruger, Botswana’s Tuli Block or in Southern Tanzania.
Unlike a normal ‘tourist’ safari, these safaris are designed to meet the needs of photographers with an emphasis on improving your photographic and fieldcraft knowledge in stunning wildlife habitats.
We work in private reserves and conservancies with experienced and qualified guides and trackers where we can responsibly off-road and benefit from high density wildlife and low tourist numbers.

Focus on… Wild at Mattikoko – The Great Migration
Based at the fantastic Mattikoko Safari Camp in the Lemek Conservancy of the Maasai Mara. From this friendly, family run camp, we have access to Lemek, Ol Chorro and Enonkishu Conservancies. The Conservancies are known for high density wildlife and low density tourist numbers where responsible off-roading is also permitted.
Mattikoko Safari Camp nestles in the heart of the savannah, where elephants and lions wander past. A wonderful, family run camp run by our good friend Moses Nampaso and staffed by very friendly and experienced people whose goal is to work with us to give you a fantastic safari experience. The camp has electricity, hot showers, comfortable beds and full flushing toilets.
All the Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhino are here. Plus countless other species such as cheetahs, giraffes, gazelles, crocodiles, wildebeest, zebra, kingfishers, storks and vultures. The list is endless!
We contribute to local conservation and communities with approximately £800 per person going directly to the wildlife conservancy areas, plus the Mara Predator Project and Ol Chorro Rhino Sanctuary.

Tanzania – Nyerere, Rufji River, Ruaha and Mikumi
Based at three seperate locations in southern Tanzania where the southern and eastern eco-systems of Sub-Saharan Africa converge hosting an extraordinary variety of birds and mammals.
Nyere boasts 500 species of birds and the Rufji River supports populations of hippos, crocodiles and half of Tanzania’s elephant population and the highest density of African wild dogs in Africa.
Ruaha is home to the largest numbers of lions in Tanzania containing one tenth of the world’s population. Other predators include spotted and striped hyena, cheetah, leopard and wild dogs.
Mikumi boasts a huge number of prey animals and predators with good sightings of some of the more unusual nocturnal species such as porcupines, genet and civit.
Together, all of these locations are home to an incredible number of mammals and birds with stunning views of varied African topography.

South Africa Timbavati
Based in South Africa’s Timbavati, one of the private reserves of the Greater Kruger area. With a lodge in the heart of the reserve we’ll be surrounded by the African ‘Big-Five’ (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino), plus a lot more including wonderful birdlife.
Timbavati’s wildlife is well known to be exceptionally relaxed around safari vehicles so we can expect to photograph the big-five with ease. In 2022, we managed it in just one day!
