The documentary trailer for the Seabirds in the City project is now online!
Seabirds in the City is a long term project I am working on with Dr Helen F. Wilson, Associate Professor of Human Geography at Durham University and Kaleel Zibe, Filmmaker and Photographer.
In short, the documentary aims to develop a better understanding of seabirds and seabird decline; why species are moving into cities; and how urban areas are working to support co-existence.
The documentary is based upon published research, and a unique collaboration between social scientists and marine biologists. The documentary examines what these birds can tell us about environmental change, the health of the world’s oceans, and the future of cities.
Over the last couple of years we’ve been filming extensively in the UK around COVID restrictions. In 2022 we are aiming to travel to urban areas of Norway where similar urban kittiwake colonies are established.
